Sydney Airport Parkings Parking options compared
Compare Sydney Airport parking options
Terminal parking buys you the shortest walk to the building. The long-stay car park trades a shuttle ride for a lower daily rate. Valet and shuttle-served lots sit alongside both, each with its own handover routine. Pick by trip length and terminal first, then look at the rate.
Start with trip length, not price
The lowest daily rate is rarely the lowest total for a weekend away. Paying terminal parking rates for a fortnight adds up just as fast. Trip length decides whether you will even notice the shuttle, so sort by days away first, terminal second, rate last.
Two nights
The shuttle wait is a real slice of your parking time. Terminal parking at the closest car park usually reads better across a short break, especially with an early departure.
One week
Turning point. A lower daily rate starts to outweigh the transfer, particularly if you are flying from the international terminal and can build the bus into your plan.
Three weeks
The shuttle stops being a factor at all. Long-stay and shuttle-served lots come into their own, and the daily rate gap is what you actually notice on the bill.
The four products, side by side
Every product below is real airport parking at Sydney. What changes is where you leave the car, how you reach the building, and which trips each one suits. Read the transfer column before the rate column.

Terminal parking: P1 Prime Park and the international car parks
Terminal parking means parking inside the terminal precinct and walking to the building. P1 Prime Park serves the domestic terminal area. The international side has its own car parks, with P7 and premium options listed for travellers flying out of the international terminal.
This is the product for early flights, short trips, travellers with mobility needs, and anyone carrying bags and children. You are paying for proximity, and the per-day rate says so. If your trip is short, proximity is often the better buy, because the walk is the entire transfer.
Closest to the building
Enter the precinct, park, and walk to check-in. No bus to wait for and no handover queue.
Accessible bays on site
Accessible parking bays are available in the international car parks. Note the requirement when you book rather than at the gate.
Days, not weeks
Across a weekend the rate is easy to justify. Across a fortnight the same rate multiplies quickly.
Long-stay parking at Blu Emu
Blu Emu is Sydney Airport's long-stay car park, on Ross Smith Avenue within the airport precinct and reached via General Holmes Drive. A shuttle bus serves it, with stops including Domestic Terminal 2.
This is the workhorse option for holidays. You park, take the bus, and on return you take the bus back to collect the car. The daily rate sits below terminal parking, and that is the trade you are making.
See terminal guidesValet and shuttle-served lots
Around Mascot and the airport precinct you will find valet and shuttle-served operators alongside the official car parks. What they include varies. Some meet you at the terminal, some run their own shuttle, some keep cars under cover and some leave them out in the open.
Read the specifics rather than trusting the label. Where is the lot? How does handover work? What happens if your flight is delayed? Is the car under cover or outside? Those four answers tell you far more than the word "valet" does.
Self parking versus valet
Neither is the better product. They solve different problems, and the choice usually comes down to how comfortable you are handing over the keys.
Self parking
You park the car yourself and keep the keys. Terminal parking and long-stay at Blu Emu both work this way.
- Keys stay with you for the whole trip.
- You choose the bay and can check the car on return.
- Adds a walk or a bus leg depending on the car park.
Valet
You hand the car over and someone else parks it. Valet is a separate service level, not a different car park.
- Handover point at or near the terminal, so no bus.
- Useful when departure time is tight or you are running late.
- Storage conditions and delay policy differ by operator, so ask.
Comparing on total cost, not day rate
A lower day rate is not the whole story if it comes with a longer shuttle ride or a lot further from the precinct. Work out the total instead: the rate for your exact dates, plus the time cost of the transfer, plus any overstay risk if your return runs late.
Overstay is worth thinking about because drive-up pricing runs in time bands around 24-hour windows. A product that looks cheaper per day can end up the more expensive one if you are likely to exit past your booked time. Build a buffer into your booking rather than relying on the gate rate.
Shuttle, walk or handover
Each product moves you to the terminal a different way, and that transfer is part of the product rather than an afterthought. Think about what your return looks like at 11pm with a tired family, not just what departure looks like at 6am.
A walk
Terminal parking puts you inside the precinct, so the transfer is your own two feet. No timetable, no queue, no waiting on a bus at either end of the trip.
A shuttle bus
Blu Emu runs a shuttle with stops that include Domestic Terminal 2. Add the ride to both legs of your plan, and give yourself room on the way home when flights are running late.
A handover
Valet usually means meeting at or near the terminal and handing over the keys. Ask where the meeting point is, how long it takes on the way out, and how the return pickup works.
Which option fits your trip
Three trip shapes cover most bookings. If yours sits outside them, tell us the dates, terminal and how long you are away, and we will point you at the product that matches.
Short domestic trip
A day or two from T2
Domestic terminal parking, walk in, done. Keep your departure time and skip anything that adds a bus leg in the dark.
Two weeks overseas
From the international terminal
Long-stay at Blu Emu or a reputable shuttle-served lot. The daily rate matters more than the walk, so plan the shuttle into both legs.
Business day return
In and out on the same day
Take whatever puts you closest to your gate. On a single day the convenience is worth more than the rate difference, and accessible bays may settle it first.
If you need an accessible bay, the international car parks have accessible parking bays, and that may settle the choice before price does. Confirm the requirement when you book rather than at the gate. For a shuttle-served lot, check the bus arrangements as well as the bay.

Parking options questions
The answers travellers ask for most often when they are weighing terminal parking against long-stay, valet and shuttle-served lots.
All parking questionsWhat is the difference between terminal parking and long-stay parking?
Terminal parking means parking inside the terminal precinct and walking to the building, with a higher rate that reflects the proximity. Long-stay parking at Blu Emu is further out and shuttle-served, with a lower daily rate. Short trips suit terminal parking; longer ones suit long-stay.
Is valet parking available at Sydney Airport?
Valet and shuttle-served options operate around the airport precinct alongside the official car parks. What each one includes varies, so check the lot location, the handover process and what happens if your flight is delayed before you book.
Which option suits a two-week trip?
Over two weeks the daily rate matters more than the walk, so the long-stay lot at Blu Emu or a shuttle-served lot is usually the better fit. Terminal parking rates add up quickly across that period. Factor the shuttle into your timing on both legs.
Can I change my parking product after booking?
Contact us as early as you can. Changes are easier before your booking period starts, and a rate agreed for one product may need to be recalculated for another. Have your booking details ready when you get in touch.
Do all options have accessible parking?
Accessible parking bays are available in the international car parks. If you need an accessible bay with a shuttle-served lot, confirm the bus arrangements as well as the bay itself when you book.
