  • Terminal walking vs long-stay rates
  • Accessible bays and the full car-to-terminal trip
  • Changes, cancellations and vehicle details

Choosing the right car park

The main decision is between terminal parking and the long-stay lot.

Terminal parking such as P1 Prime Park serves the domestic terminal area and puts you within walking distance. Blu Emu, the long-stay car park on Ross Smith Avenue, is shuttle-served and cheaper per day.

Trip length decides it. A weekend or a day trip usually favours the walk. A week or more usually favours the shuttle and the lower rate. Your terminal narrows it further, because shuttle stops and walking routes differ.

Weekend or day trip

Walking access to the domestic terminal area usually suits short stays better.

A week or longer

The shuttle-served long-stay lot usually works out lower per day.

Depends on terminal

Shuttle stops and walking routes differ between terminals, so check yours.

Shuttle buses and how often they run

Blu Emu shuttle buses serve the terminals including Domestic Terminal 2. Frequency varies by time of day, and early-morning and late-night services are worth checking if your flight sits at the edges of the day.

Allow a buffer on the return leg in particular. You're landing, collecting bags, catching the bus and then collecting the car, so the total is longer than a walk-in car park would need.

Read the terminal guides

Return leg, step by step

  1. 1 Land and collect your bags before heading out to the bus stop.
  2. 2 Catch the shuttle back to the long-stay lot, allowing for the wait on the kerb.
  3. 3 Find your car, load up and drive to the exit barrier at your booked time.

Accessibility and accessible parking bays

Accessible parking bays are available in the international car parks. If you need a bay close to the terminal, confirm the requirement when you book rather than hoping to find one on arrival.

If you're using a shuttle-served lot, ask about the bus arrangements at the same time. Accessibility covers the whole journey from car to terminal, not just the parking space.

Worth confirming when you book

  • Distance from the bay to the terminal entrance or lift lobby
  • How the shuttle handles a wheelchair, walking frame or pram
  • What happens at the lot if you arrive late in the evening

Free pick-up and overstay rules

The free window

Express Pick-up zones allow free parking for up to 15 minutes once per calendar day. Past that, the paid short-stay rules and time limits apply.

The free window resets daily, not per visit. Returning to the same zone an hour later still counts against the day you already used.

Why ten extra minutes can cost more

Overstays are charged against the next time band because airport pricing runs in blocks around 24-hour windows. Build a buffer rather than cutting it fine.

  • If you know you will run late, contact us before your booked exit time.
  • Keep the express zone for a quick drop-off or collection, not a wait.
  • Short-stay car parks are the steadier option if your plans are loose.

Pre-booking versus driving up

Two different ways to buy the same space. The airport publishes drive-up and pre-booked rates separately, and they are calculated differently.

Pre-booking

A rate agreed in advance

Pre-booking means agreeing a rate in advance for a defined entry and exit period. If you know your dates, it removes the uncertainty of what the gate will charge you on the day.

  • Suits fixed flights and confirmed return dates
  • Gives you the lot name and terminal before you leave home

Drive-up

Arriving without a reservation

Drive-up means arriving without a reservation and paying the published gate rate. If you're genuinely unsure when you'll return, it gives you flexibility, but you'll pay the unreserved rate for it.

  • Space is not held for you, so busy periods can close out
  • Useful when your return date genuinely is not settled

Booking, changing and cancelling

Changes are handled by our team, not a self-service button, so a phone call or message reaches a person who can look at your actual booking.

Payment safety

Bookings are settled by invoice or bank transfer, or in person where that's the arrangement. We don't take card payments through this website, so don't enter card details on these pages.

What each step needs

Before the booking starts
Contact us with your booking reference as early as you can. Plans are easiest to adjust before the parking period begins.
Once the booking has started
We'll tell you what can be adjusted and whether the rate changes. An overstay band can still apply if you exit past your booked period.
Flight times shifting
Airlines move schedules at short notice. Tell us as soon as you know what the new time looks like, rather than waiting until you land.

Vehicle and booking details

A short list of details makes a booking straightforward to place. Registration is how your car is identified at the lot, so double-check it before you send.

  • Name and contact email

Used to confirm the booking and reach you if a lot detail changes.

  • Vehicle registration

Check it carefully. This is how the car is matched at the lot on arrival.

  • Entry and exit times

These define the booked period and the rate that applies to it.

  • Your terminal

Decides whether the walk or the shuttle makes more sense for your trip.

Tell us about anything unusual at the same time: an accessible bay requirement, a very late return, or a vehicle larger than a standard car. Those details change what we can arrange, and it is easier to plan them before the car is parked than after.

Common questions

The short answers to the questions we hear most. Open any one for the detail behind it.

Where should I park for the domestic terminals?

P1 Prime Park serves the domestic terminal area for walking access, and the Blu Emu long-stay shuttle serves Domestic Terminal 2 among its stops. Short trips generally suit terminal parking; longer ones suit the long-stay lot.

How often does the Blu Emu shuttle run?

Frequency varies by time of day, so check the service times that apply to your arrival and return if you're travelling early or late. Build a buffer on the return leg, when you're also collecting bags and the car.

How long can I stay in the free pick-up zone?

Express Pick-up zones offer free parking for up to 15 minutes once per calendar day. After that, short-stay rules and time limits apply. Returning to the same zone later the same day doesn't give you a second free window.

Can I pre-book parking on the day I travel?

Pre-booking is designed to be done ahead of travel so your rate is fixed for your entry and exit times. Booking on the day may be possible depending on availability, but you lose the certainty of an agreed rate.

Is there valet parking at Sydney Airport?

Valet and shuttle-served options operate around the airport precinct alongside the official car parks. What each includes varies by operator, so check the lot location, handover process and delay arrangements before booking.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Contact us as soon as you know. Depending on your booking, an adjustment may be possible, though an overstay band can still apply if you exit past your booked period. The earlier you tell us, the more we can do.

Do I need to give my vehicle registration?

Yes. Registration, contact details, entry and exit times and your terminal are the basics for a booking. Registration identifies your car at the lot, so check it carefully before submitting.

How do I pay for a booking?

By invoice or bank transfer, or in person where that's the arrangement. We don't process card payments through this website. Ask us to confirm the payment method for your reservation.
